Bakpao Ayam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 10g yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 300ml warm water
  • 200g chicken, cooked and shredded
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and vegetable oil. Set aside.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into small equal-sized balls, about 50g each.
  6. Roll out each ball into a round disc and place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center.
  7. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling and shape it into a round bun.
  8. Place the buns on a greased steamer basket and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  9. Steam the buns over high heat for 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.
  10. Remove the buns from the steamer and serve hot.
